The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is working on a new Defence Equipment and Asset Management System (DEEAMS) to rationalise its existing IT application estate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its DES (Defence Equipment and Support) Digital delivery team is preparing to run a procurement process \u2013 valued at between \u00a3100 million and \u00a3150 million \u2013 for a systems integrator to work on the project with the delivery of a pan-defence \u2018engineering through life support\u2019 (ETLS) capability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will replace three equipment, asset and management systems \u2013 JAMES, UMMS and Goldesp \u2013 along with more than 20 bespoke applications and paper based systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the MoD\u2019s prior information notice<\/a>, the systems integrator will manage the introduction of a solution based on commercial off-the-shelf software, handling data migration from legacy systems, integration with other MoD systems, system acceptance and assurance. The company will also be expected to deliver a core basic training package for further development by a third party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDEEAMS will address a significant scope of activity within defence support, specifically engineering and equipment support, which includes maintenance and repair, engineering planning, obsolescence, technical information, safety management, enhancing and expanding the capabilities of the current equipment and asset management applications,\u201d the notice says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese activities are serviced by more than 100,000 users across the Defence Support Network comprising MoD, civil servants, and industry partners.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the utilisation of data from multiple applications now supporting supply chain activity it good to see a renationalised software landscape supported with quality data <\/p>\n\n\n\n
